Oreck Chooses Channel Velocity To Manage eBay Outlet

Evanston, IL – November 20, 2005 – After hurricane Katrina hit, New Orleans, LA based Oreck Corporation needed someone to help sell their excess inventory and Channel Velocity stepped up by donating services to build an eBay outlet. Channel Velocity donated their expertise in eBay storefront design and implementation to help Oreck sell into the channel. Channel Velocity currently manages and operates Oreck-Auctions store on eBay.

Channel Velocity (CV) provides both channel management services and software solutions to brand name manufacturers and retailers who want to enter secondary markets. Oreck and CV were in talks for CV to provide Oreck an outlet into eBay when Katrina struck the gulf coast. “We wanted to help in someway” said Jim Boccarossa, National Director of Sales. Oreck set-up a relief fund for their employees and was diverting money towards that end. CV offered to build and implement Oreck’s eBay store for free. Oreck gladly accepted.

Oreck Corporation was founded in 1962 by David Oreck who began selling the vaccum cleaners by mail. David has often been overheard saying the secret to his success, was to abandon traditional retail distribution channels for his product. CV believes Oreck is doing just that with their new outlet.
